He started his primary education in SJK(C) Chung Hwa 2A. He continued his secondary education in SMK Jalan Junid.

Political career

Er was first elected to Parliament in the 2008 election winning the seat of Bakri from the governing Barisan Nasional coalition.[2] Upon his election, Er, a Mandarin speaker, stated that he was planning to hire private tutors to improve his Malay and English language skills in order to communicate more effectively with his constituents.[3]

Presistence paid off for Er when his second emergency motion on the accident involving an express bus was allowed to be debated in the Parliament House on 3 November 2010. His first emergency motion on the fatal accident in Simpang Ampat[4] on 14 Oct 2010 but it was dismissed on 18 Oct 2010. This was also the first emergency motion to be allowed for year 2010 as most of them were rejected on grounds that there was no urgency for the matters raised.[5][6]
